Minecraft
Installing plugins, mods & modpacks
Know your server type
- Plugins (
.jarfiles in/plugins) work on Paper/Purpur servers. Players don’t install anything. - Mods (
.jarfiles in/mods) work on Forge/Fabric servers. Players usually need the same mods installed. - You can switch server type any time — see Switching server version or type.
Installing plugins (Paper/Purpur)
- Download the plugin
.jar(Hangar, SpigotMC, Modrinth). - Panel → Files →
plugins/→ Upload. - Restart the server. Check the console for load errors.
Installing mods (Forge/Fabric)
Same process, but upload to mods/, and make sure the mod’s version matches your Minecraft and loader versions exactly.
Installing a modpack
- Switch your server to the matching Forge or Fabric egg/version.
- Download the pack’s server files (not the client pack) from CurseForge/Modrinth/FTB.
- Upload and extract them into the server root via the file manager or SFTP.
- Large packs want 8 GB+ RAM. If it won’t boot, check the console for the missing-dependency line — it names the mod.
