Installing plugins, mods & modpacks

Know your server type

  • Plugins (.jar files in /plugins) work on Paper/Purpur servers. Players don’t install anything.
  • Mods (.jar files in /mods) work on Forge/Fabric servers. Players usually need the same mods installed.
  • You can switch server type any time — see Switching server version or type.

Installing plugins (Paper/Purpur)

  1. Download the plugin .jar (Hangar, SpigotMC, Modrinth).
  2. Panel → Filesplugins/ → Upload.
  3. Restart the server. Check the console for load errors.

Installing mods (Forge/Fabric)

Same process, but upload to mods/, and make sure the mod’s version matches your Minecraft and loader versions exactly.

Installing a modpack

  1. Switch your server to the matching Forge or Fabric egg/version.
  2. Download the pack’s server files (not the client pack) from CurseForge/Modrinth/FTB.
  3. Upload and extract them into the server root via the file manager or SFTP.
  4. Large packs want 8 GB+ RAM. If it won’t boot, check the console for the missing-dependency line — it names the mod.
